For the past four decades, communities have come together across the country to establish AIDS memorials to honor the lives lost, help heal, and to share the story of HIV/AIDS so we always remember. Since the first cases of AIDS were reported in the U.S. 40 years ago, more than 700,000 people have died in the United States alone.
In addition to our designated City gardener, the 10 acres of the National AIDS Memorial Grove have since been maintained by an average of 1,700 volunteers who provide approximately 4,500 hours of annual volunteer labor.
