I recommend Fire Emblem 2 Princesses, an FE8 hack. The original is japanese but there is an english translated version as well. It has high stat caps and makes use of skill scrolls. The games setting is supposed to be Tellius, but hundreds of years after Ike's story. You can expect to see familiar locations, weapons and names.
