Check for gaps between the string and the door panel. If gaps are present, this indicates the door panel is bowed or warped. Remove the string from the door panel stile. Repeat Steps 3 & 4 for both rails, placing the string against the door panel width-wise at the rail. Then apply a liberal amount of adhesive to the back, and push it back into place and use some spring clamps to hold it in place for 12-24 hours. Then reassemble. One of my least favorite issues with these cars is the poor craftsmanship around the interior trim.

DanTwoLakes. You can't fix the original door panel once it is warped, you will need to replace the bad section. The top of the door panel is curved metal, and the bottom of the door panel is attached to the metal.
